Efortless help

Image
I think it is clear by now that I always was and still am the biggest animal lover. That's exactly the reason why I constantly get involved in animal-protecting or animal-helping activities. Already a long time ago, when we were planning our CAS activities for the year, Kamilė, Ignė and I came up with the idea to create posters inviting to donate items necessary for the wealth of dogs and cats living in shelters. So the time of implementation came and our group once again gathered in one place to discuss ideas.    Initially we planned to draw posters by hand but this time we wanted to take it a step further and challenge ourselves by creating something different. Modern computer technologies seemed appropriate enough for our task. All of us have a perfectionist nature so we wanted the poster to look as clear and aesthetic as possible. After brain storming our ideas and looking through some posters online, we ended up working on two separate posters for dogs and cats. Our main

Свита Булгакова

During this school year my favorite literature piece that I, as a student of the first IB class, had to read became "The Master and Margarita" written by Mikhail Bulgakov. Being the biggest fan of the book I simply could not refuse to participate in a brain battle fully dedicated to M. Bulgakov's life. So last Friday, together with my other classmates and our Lithuanian language and literature teacher, I found myself in a quite small classroom of Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. We were completely unaware of the level of seriousness of this battle and got really confused when realized that it was meant to proceed only in Russian. Luckily, my sister and I have some decent language skills and were able to translate everything to our teams. The whole even was hectic! We constantly had to rush to answer questions because the timing was kind of weird - for harder questions less time that for easier ones. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every minute filled with adrenalin

A small dictation

In our modern world it is vital to properly educate the young generation and indicate the right path to follow. Yesterday I got a rare opportunity to take part in promoting literacy of children buy volunteering in "The National students' literacy contest"   for 4th and 5th-graders. I was actually surprised to acknowledge later on that the event was organised by one of my classmates' parents. As always, it was not easy to cut on my Saturday morning sleep and take an early bus to Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences but i had no other choice. After meeting the organizers a few hours later, the volunteers (there were only two of us at that point) were assigned to wait until the beginning of the exam. Almost an hour have passed when we finally could help.    Firstly, Gabriele and I were asked to assist a teacher in proceeding the contest for 4th-graders. We handed out papers for each participant and sat there quietly in case someone would feel unwell

Flash mob practice

Flash mob is a widespread type of entertainment all around the world. Isn't it a mood-busting and eye-catching activity for all of us? It surely is and that's why I decided to participate in one myself. We started practicing early to ensure a smooth performance on the actual day. Gabrielė was the one to teach us all her professional moves. At first, I thought she was crazy to think beginners like us could learn all those complicated and confusing moves but after a decent amount of lessons with our teacher and some additional practice at home I actually got in control of my body and managed to last the whole dance without failing! I believe my previous experiences with dancing in primary and middle school had a slight impact on that. One achievement was down but another was yet to come. It's the pace. I could hardly get in time with my moves as the music was really fast. It seemed super easy for the majority if dancers but not for me. However, lots of practice saved me

Simulating "Darom" ourselves

Not always everything goes as planned and last weekend I learnt this once again. Initially my plan was to participate in "Darom 2017", which is an annually organized project of voluntary collection of litter all around Lithuania, however, that day I was busy at a meeting of volunteers of "Labas" festival . So instead, couple of friends and I came up with the idea to clean up our neighborhood where "Darom" have never previously proceeded.  Looking back, I am more than glad we did so as there was plenty of litter to collect. To be honest, I did not expect to find this much "treasure" as no one else could pollute the space unless residents themselves. It upsets me quite a lot because it means that people do not feel any respect or responsibility towards the nature and its biocapacity.   Today Kamilė, Ignė and I woke up really early despite the fact it's Sunday and, with the help of all the determination we had, went to hunt for any unn
