Morning in Antakalnio cemetery

   Even though yesterday was the first day of autumn holiday I did not get to sleep in. That's because at 10 a. m. I was already near Antakalnio cemetery waiting for others to go to clean part of the graveyard. So let me tell you everything from the start.
   On the set time we gathered together at agreed place and a really nice women met us. She was really talkative in a good way and kept a company for us till everyone came. After she gave us all we needed and showed what area to clean.
  I will admit, it was not easy to rake the leaves and at some point it even felt like a decent arm workout. However, I was determined enough to keep working till the end. Our group of around 10 people managed to clean a middle-sized field and a quite big area of graves in less than two hours. By coincidence as I was cleaning around graves some family was visiting the grave of their relative conductor. They were so thankful to us and complemented our dedication and kindness. I felt really proud to hear those words.
   Oh, I nearly forgot to mention how much I did not wanted to get up early from warm bed and go out into cold and wet weather. Despite the desire to stay home and do nothing I forced myself to serve others and clean the cemetery before the All Souls Day. Now I'm very glad I decided so because not only it made me feel better but I myself made others feel better as well.

Conference for scientists

Vita Scientia is a conference which gathers life scientists from around the world every two years. I have never previously heard about this kind of event organized by Vilnius University students but as soon as my biology teacher a month prior to the conference offered to take part as a volunteer I agreed with no thought of hesitation.  Well, I didn't even expect to be regretful about such a decision in the future but I was wrong. It appeared to be on the last and busiest day of my Christmas holidays and the organizers were asking to volunteer for thirteen hours straight! I was devastated to finish last works and tasks of holidays but there was no way I could miss this kind of event. 10000 steps a day

Having to spend most of my time by the desk I can really feel the lack of exercise in my daily life. Now, when the exams are so close I feel deprived of physical activities even more. However, it’s not an excuse to choose the elevator instead of the stairs or take a bus instead of walking. This month was supposed to be dedicated  to walking 10000 steps a day, but it appeared to be much more difficult than I expected. I assumed that I usually was walking most of that amount but I was surprised to acknowledge that I barely could get to half of that. Therefore, it was much more of a challenge to walk 10000 steps than I initially anticipated. First of all, I found it hard to keep up with the fixed number of steps. I always managed to get 5000 steps but to double that I had to make a significant effort. Sometimes it even required a few (or more) circles around my neighborhood before coming home form school.
