Running routine

Image
It's a new moth and I'm back with an update of my running routine. As already told in the previous post  I had variant relationships with running. Though sport was always one of the best ways to de-stress for me, I still find it hard sometimes to defeat my inner laziness and go outside especially if it's cold and gloomy. Luckily enough, favorable weather managed to hold for some time and I took a full advantage of it. As promised, I was running 3-4 km distance and even attempted to run 5 km once until the unexpected snow showed up. My plans to keep training at a consistent pace were ruined as easily as that. Well, there is nothing in my power that can be changed. The only thing I can do is hope for a weather improvement as sudden as its recent worsening.       Even though I ran only for a few weeks it managed to stick to me. I developed a routine to run right after getting home from school which always elevates not only my mood but determination to do homework as well

No special occasion

Even though it does not seem like it behind the window, nearly a month of springtime has already passed. Since there's only occasional sunshine in Vilnius and certain groups of people, especially the elder, don't get to enjoy it as often as they should, my friends and I decided to bring warmth to their hearts ourselves by creating minimalistic yet sincere postcards. The initial ideas was to make postcards for Easter but time flew so fast that I didn't even got a chance to notice how quickly this egg-eating and bunny-chasing event had came and gone, but after all, its even better to show attention with no special occasion.    Personally for me, postcard making was a perfect chance to attempt watercolor technique of painting, which I always curiously wanted to learn. It took several Youtube videos for me to feel inspired and brave enough to attempt to commemorate my creations of imagination on a sheet of paper.   The first few cards were not as successful as the last

It's the attention that matters

It's always those little kids whom we feel sorry for the deepest. That's why the urge to help them is the utmost as well. When half a year ago I included "Spalvotas pavasaris"  ("Colorful spring"), which is an event of kindness of crocheting head wears to kids with oncological diseases, to my CAS plan, I wasn't sure whether it will actually take place this year but after acquiring what a beautiful cause it had, there was nothing left except hope for the best. Ready to be sent to Kaunas!    As time came near my predicted date of the event launch according to prior investigation I was a little skeptical about it's occurrence, so the only solution I thought of was to write to one of the active participants from earlier years. She redirected me to the coordinator of "Spalvotas pavasaris" who assured that the event is just about to start. After her guidance I instantly got down to work. Firstly, mom helped me to pick natural thread

Teaching to crochet

It seems not that long ago I was spreading the skill of knitting and now it's crocheting time. This time for a good cause as well. Recently some of my classmates accepted my invitation to participate in "Spalvotas pavasaris" campaign which is an event of crocheting head wears to kids with oncological diseases. It is heartbreaking to think about little kids all around the world fighting horrible diseases, so if there's any chance to ease their suffer with no doubt I will take it.    If you do not know yet, to crochet a cap is ten times easier than to knit a pair of socks so I did not expect someone to find this kind of handcraft hard. It was true, no one have stumbled across major problems. Still, some basics had to be introduced. I showed how to crochet a starting ring and what to do after for KamilÄ—. She caught the angle pretty fast and continued to crochet at home. A little more help was required by DeimantÄ—, who actually appeared to be very talented for this cr

International event for the little ones

Nowhere near have I planned to spend my Sunday as a volunteer in an International "Labas" theatre festival but a random proposal by my English teacher got me extremely interested and curious.    It wasn't actually until the early evening of Saturday when I finally found out what kind of event will I be volunteering at. It appeared to be, as earlier mentioned, theater festival, yet not an ordinary one but comprising of performers from Ireland, Belgium and Israel and intended for a very young audience. To be honest, I wasn't fascinated by the idea of being surrounded by a crowd of restless screaming children all day. Luckily, volunteers were assured that no chaos will be present. I didn't know what to expect then but now, after participation, I can say that some disarray was not avoided. At first, there was quite a decent number of volunteers but not as much work to do. I arranged sitting space in two performance halls and helped one of the festival participants t

Helping the poor again

Last Saturday was the first day of spring break but it was not time to relax for me yet. Once again my evening was dedicated to "Food bank" , just as half a year ago.  However, this time I was not only handing out symbolic gifts to the people donating food but completing a few other tasks as well. After an hour of standing by the gathering table I switched jobs with the other volunteer who was inviting "Rimi" market shoppers to donate while handing out flyers to them. I didn't expect to find this job challenging, but at times the struggle was real. A lot of people were ignoring me and passing by as quickly as they could but it was all outweighed with those who thanked nicely while smiling. As my shift was the last one that day, two hours later we had to tidy up and I volunteered to collect flyers around the shop. Even after walking back and forth numerous times still finding hidden flyers in the most unexpected places I don't think I collected them all. I
